DESCRIPTION

 

Ursonol-300 Tablet contains Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg. Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) is a medicine used to dissolve gallstones that are mostly made of cholesterol that hasn't dissolved. Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) is also used to help the flow of bile in a condition called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, which is a long-term disease where the bile ducts in the liver get slowly damaged. Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) works by breaking down the cholesterol in gallstones, which helps to dissolve them. Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) also helps the liver work better and protects the liver cells.

 

 

 

INDICATIONS

 

Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) : Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) is the primary treatment for Primary Biliary Cholangitis, a chronic autoimmune liver disease in which the bile ducts in the liver become inflamed and gradually damaged, leading to liver damage over time.

 

 

Gallstone Dissolution : Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) can be used to dissolve cholesterol gallstones in patients who are not suitable for gallbladder removal surgery or as a preventive treatment after gallbladder surgery.

Cholestasis of Pregnancy : Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) is sometimes used to help manage cholestasis during pregnancy. This condition occurs when the flow of bile from the liver slows down, causing itching and potentially affecting both the mother and the baby.

Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) : Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) may be used in certain cases to help manage non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, especially when there are elevated liver enzymes or signs of liver inflammation.

 

 

 

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) : Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) is sometimes prescribed for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a chronic liver condition in which the bile ducts become inflamed and develop scar tissue.

 

 

 

 

MECHANISM OF ACTION

 

Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) helps treat various liver and bile related disorders. It reduces the amount of cholesterol present in bile by decreasing the production of cholesterol in the liver and reducing its absorption from the intestines. This action helps dissolve cholesterol gallstones.

 

 

 

DRUG INTERACTIONS

 

Drug-Drug Interactions: Ursonol-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) may interact with antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin and dapsone, antihypertensive agents such as nitrendipine, immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine, hormones such as estrogen, and antacids containing aluminium hydroxide, aluminium carbonate, or magaldrate.
