DESCRIPTION

Cefpodoxime is a component of the antibiotic Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg). In addition to treating typhoid fever in children, it is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, and bladder. Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) either kills germs or stops them from growing.

 

INDICATION 
 

1. Respiratory Tract Infections: Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) used to treat bacterial illnesses such bronchitis, pneumonia, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis. Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) inhibits the development of germs that cause infections in the lungs and throat.
 

2. Ear Infections (Otitis Media): Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) effective for treating middle ear infections that are frequent in youngsters. Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) helps to relieve ear discomfort, inflammation, and bacterial development.

MECHANISM OF ACTION
 

Ofril-50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) is to target and prevent the formation of bacterial cell walls. It selectively inhibits the enzyme transpeptidase by attaching itself to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) found in the bacterial cell wall. This enzyme is essential for the peptidoglycan layers to cross-link, giving the bacterial cell wall its structural integrity. Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg interferes with the normal development of the cell wall by inhibiting transpeptidase, which results in a weaker and more unstable structure. The bacteria lyse and eventually die as a result of the damaged cell wall's inability to preserve the essential cellular integrity. By stopping the bacteria from retaining the structure and functionality of their cell walls, this mechanism successfully eradicates the bacterial infection.
