DESCRIPTION

Cinka-D is a combination of  (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg) used in the treatment of vertigo, nausea and vomiting. It work by improving blood flow in the inner ear and blocking dopamine receptors in the brain to prevent dizziness and vomiting. it is commonly prescribed for motion sickness and balance disorders. 

INDICATION

• Motion Sickness : Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg) work together to prevent and alleviate nausea, vomiting, and dizziness triggered by movement, making it effective for travel-related discomfort like car, boat, or airplane travel.
 

• Vertigo : Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg) combination helps relieve dizziness and balance issues caused by disorders affecting the inner ear or neurological conditions, such as Meniere's disease or vestibular disorders.
 

• Nausea and Vomiting : Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg) effectively reduce nausea and vomiting from a variety of causes, including gastrointestinal upset, post-operative recovery, and conditions like gastroparesis (delayed stomach emptying).
 

• Gastrointestinal Disorders : Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg) medication helps alleviate symptoms like bloating, nausea, and abdominal discomfort associated with slow gastric motility or reflux diseases (e.g., GERD), improving digestion and comfort.
 

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Cinnarizine (20 mg) acts as an H1 receptor antagonist, blocking histamine action in the brain, particularly in areas responsible for nausea and balance. This helps prevent symptoms of motion sickness, such as nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Additionally, cinnarizine has mild anticholinergic effects, which aid in reducing dizziness and vertigo by stabilizing balance through action on the inner ear and central nervous system.

Domperidone (15 mg) works as a dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) of the brain, preventing nausea and vomiting by inhibiting the effects of dopamine. Domperidone also acts as a gastroprokinetic agent, increasing the motility of the stomach and intestines by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, which accelerates gastric emptying and alleviates symptoms like bloating and delayed digestion.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Drug-Drug Interaction : Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg) may interact with antidepressants (escitalopram, amitriptyline), anti-fungal agents (ketoconazole), antibiotics (erythromycin, moxifloxacin), heart-related drugs (amiodarone, sotalol), antipsychotics (haloperidol, pimozide), stomach related drugs (cisapride, dolasetron), anti-allergic drugs (mequitazine), anti-malarial medicine (halofantrine), anti-cancer drugs (toremifene, vandetanib), drugs treating HIV/AIDS (ritonavir), and pain killers (opioids).
 

Drug-Food Interaction : Alcohol may cause dizziness and drowsiness when taken with Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg).
 

Drug-Disease Interaction : Before using Cinka-D tablet (Cinnarizine 20 mg + Domperidone 15 mg), let your doctor know if you have any history of renal failure, liver diseases, Parkinson's disease (brain disorder), blood disorders (porphyria), heart rhythm problems, and cardiac arrest.

PRECAUTIONS

Additionally, elderly patients may be more susceptible to side effects like dizziness and sedation.
