MECHANISM OF ACTION
• Rosuvastatin : Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for cholesterol production in the liver. By blocking this enzyme, it reduces the amount of cholesterol made in the body. It also increases the number of LDL receptors on liver cells, which enhances the removal of LDL (bad cholesterol) from the bloodstream, thereby lowering overall LDL levels.
• Fenofibrate : Fenofibrate activates PPAR-α (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha), a protein that helps regulate fat metabolism. This activation increases the breakdown of fatty acids, reduces triglyceride levels, and raises HDL (good cholesterol). Together, these actions improve the overall lipid profile and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Drug-Drug Interaction: Rosutec-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 mg + Fenofibrate 160 mg) may interact with cyclosporine, niacin, gemfibrozil, bile acid resins, certain HIV medicines, warfarin, and colchicine. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking to prevent side effects.
Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid high-fat and processed foods, pastries, packaged snacks, and excessive alcohol while taking Rosutec-F Tablet, as these may reduce the effectiveness of the medicine and worsen lipid levels.
