DESCRIPTION

Temcia-40 Tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg, an Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARB) used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, which helps in lowering blood pressure effectively.

INDICATION

• Hypertension: Hypertension means your blood pressure is higher than normal. If not treated, it can lead to serious problems like heart attack or stroke (when blood supply to the brain is reduced). Temcia-40 Tablet, containing Telmisartan 40 mg, is used to control high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.
   

• Reduces Risk of Heart & Diabetes Complications: Temcia-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg) helps widen blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood effectively. It reduces the risk of coronary artery disease (plaque buildup in heart arteries) and stroke, especially in elderly patients. It is also beneficial for diabetic patients, as it helps protect the kidneys and prevents further kidney damage.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Temcia-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg) selectively and reversibly blocks the AT1 angiotensin II receptors in blood vessels and adrenal glands. This prevents the action of angiotensin II, a strong vasoconstrictor, thereby relaxing blood vessels and reducing blood pressure. It lowers systemic vascular resistance without affecting ACE enzymes or other hormone receptors. Telmisartan also acts as a partial PPAR-γ agonist, which may help improve carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and reduce insulin resistance.
 

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Drug-Drug Interaction: Temcia-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg) may interact with pain relievers like ibuprofen and aspirin, blood thinners (heparin), and heart medicines such as digoxin. It can also interact with other blood pressure medicines (like ACE inhibitors and aliskiren), potassium-sparing diuretics (amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene), muscle relaxants (tizanidine), antibiotics (trimethoprim), and potassium supplements, increasing the risk of side effects.

Drug-Food Interaction: Tamcia-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg) may interact with potassium-rich salt or supplements, leading to high potassium levels (hyperkalemia). This can cause irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, and kidney problems.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Patients with diabetes, liver disease (especially bile duct blockage), or kidney problems should consult a doctor before using Temcia-40 (Telmisartan 40 mg).
