Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) is a medication containing a combination of Amlodipine and Telmisartan. It is used to treat high blood pressure. Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) functions by relaxing the blood vessels, promoting smooth blood flow, and ultimately reducing blood pressure. Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) can lower the risk of heart attack or stroke by making it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the body.
 

INDICATION

Management of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults: Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) helps manage high blood pressure by using two types of medicines: one blocks calcium from entering heart and blood vessel cells (amlodipine), and the other stops angiotensin II from working (telmisartan).
 

Combination therapy for patients with inadequate control of blood pressure : Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) is used when taking just one medicine isn't enough to control blood pressure properly.
 

Reduction of cardiovascular risk: Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) helps reduce the chance of heart attacks and strokes by keeping blood pressure under control.
 

MECHANISM OF ACTION
 

Amlodipine 
Calcium Channel Blocker: Amlodipine stops calcium ions from entering the cells in blood vessel walls and heart muscle. This makes the blood vessels relax and widen, which lowers the resistance in the blood vessels and helps blood flow better. Because of this, blood pressure goes down.
 

Telmisartan
Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB): Telmisartan works by stopping angiotensin II from attaching to the AT1 receptor. This stops blood vessels from narrowing and stops the body from releasing aldosterone. This lowers sodium and water retention. As a result, blood vessels widen, blood pressure goes down, and the heart doesn't have to work as hard.

Drug-Drug Interaction:  Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg) may interact with other blood pressure medications (ramipril, aliskiren, simvastatin, verapamil, diltiazem), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), HIV treatments (ritonavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, nevirapine), pain relievers (ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin), antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin, telithromycin, rifampicin, rifabutin), heart failure and irregular heartbeat medications (digoxin), antiepileptics (phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine), bipolar disorder medications (lithium), and immunosuppressants (cyclosporine, tacrolimus).

Drug-Food Interaction: Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 + Amlodipine 5 mg) should not be taken with grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or St. John's wort because they can cause serious interactions. You should avoid taking this medicine with these items. Also, try to eat less food that is high in potassium.

Drug-Disease Interaction: People with diabetes, hyperkalemia (high potassium levels in the blood), hypotension (low blood pressure), kidney or liver issues should consult a doctor before taking Temcia AM-40 Tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg).
