MECHANISM OF ACTION

Iron sucrose injection works by replenishing iron stores in the body. It contains iron in the form of polynuclear iron(III)-hydroxide sucrose complex, which is broken down in the body to release iron. The released iron is then bound to transferrin and transported to the bone marrow, where it is utilized for erythropoiesis (production of red blood cells). This helps to correct iron deficiency anemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease. By increasing iron availability, iron sucrose injection supports the production of healthy red blood cells.
