DISCRIPTION
Kalrich softgel capsule combination medicine contains calcitriol (0.25 mcg), the active form of vitamin D3, along with calcium carbonate (500 mg, equivalent to elemental calcium 200 mg) and zinc (7.5 mg). It is formulated to help correct calcium and vitamin D deficiencies and support healthy bone formation and maintenance by improving calcium absorption and mineralization. Calcitriol enhances the uptake of calcium from the intestine, calcium strengthens bones and teeth, and zinc contributes to bone growth and immune function. This blend is commonly used to prevent or treat conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and hypocalcemia under medical supervision.
INDICATION
Osteoporosis & Bone Health: Kalrich Softgel Capsules ( Calcitriol 0.25 Mcg + Calcium Carbonate 500 Mg + Calcium 200 Mg + Zinc 7.5 Mg) Treats brittle, weak bones (senile or postmenopausal) and aids in preventing fractures.

Calcium/Vitamin D Deficiency: Kalrich Softgel Capsules ( Calcitriol 0.25 Mcg + Calcium Carbonate 500 Mg + Calcium 200 Mg + Zinc 7.5 Mg) Corrects deficiencies causing conditions like rickets or osteomalacia (bone softening).

Hypoparathyroidism: Kalrich Softgel Capsules ( Calcitriol 0.25 Mcg + Calcium Carbonate 500 Mg + Calcium 200 Mg + Zinc 7.5 Mg) Manages low calcium levels due to underactive parathyroid glands.

Pregnancy & Nursing: Kalrich Softgel Capsules ( Calcitriol 0.25 Mcg + Calcium Carbonate 500 Mg + Calcium 200 Mg + Zinc 7.5 Mg) Often recommended to ensure adequate calcium intake.

Chronic Renal Disease: Kalrich Softgel ( Calcitriol 0.25 Mcg + Calcium Carbonate 500 Mg + Calcium 200 Mg + Zinc 7.5 Mg) Used in managing metabolic bone diseases in patients with kidney issues.

MECHANISM OF ACTION
The combination of calcitriol 0.25 mcg + calcium carbonate 500 mg + elemental calcium 200 mg + zinc 7.5 mg works synergistically to improve bone health and calcium metabolism. Calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D3, binds to vitamin D receptors in the intestine, increasing synthesis of calcium-binding proteins and enhancing intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. Calcium carbonate provides elemental calcium, which is essential for bone mineralization, neuromuscular transmission, and muscle contraction. The additional calcium further supports maintaining optimal serum calcium levels and preventing secondary hyperparathyroidism. Zinc acts as a cofactor for enzymes involved in bone matrix formation and promotes osteoblastic activity while inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Together, this combination improves bone density, supports skeletal strength, and helps prevent or manage osteoporosis and calcium deficiency states.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Drug-Drug Interactions: Kalrich Softgel capsules (Calcitriol 0.25 Mcg + Calcium Carbonate 500 Mg + Calcium 200 Mg + Zinc 7.5 Mg) may interact with medications that treat bacterial infections, such as Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Gatifloxacin, Sparfloxacin, and Ofloxacin; medications that treat fungal infections, such as Ketoconazole; and anti-cancer medications, such as estramustine and Cholestyramine, which lower cholesterol.
Drug-Food Interactions: Steer clear of or cut back on alcohol, soft drinks, and caffeine as they prevent the body from absorbing calcium.
Interactions with Drugs: Let your doctor know if you have bone metastases, myeloma, primary hyperparathyroidism, renal failure, nephrolithiasis or nephrocalcinosis, or hypervitaminosis D.

PRECAUTIONS
Before using this combination, patients should be evaluated for hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, or a history of renal calculi, as Calcitriol increases intestinal calcium absorption and may raise serum calcium levels. Caution is required in renal impairment, cardiovascular disease, or in patients receiving digitalis, as elevated calcium can precipitate arrhythmias. Calcium carbonate should be used carefully in individuals with achlorhydria or a tendency toward kidney stones. Periodic monitoring of serum calcium, phosphate, and renal function is recommended during therapy. Concurrent use with other vitamin D products, thiazide diuretics, or high-dose calcium supplements should be avoided unless medically supervised.
